2019 Cinema One Originals’ eight entries unveiled

MANILA, Philippines —Eight films were bared Tuesday as entries for the fifteenth year of Cinema One Originals festival with the tagline “I Am Original, Kaya Mo?”

The entries will screen from November 7 to 17 in the following cinemas: TriNoma, Glorietta, Gateway, Ayala Manila Bay, and Power Plant Makati.

The films will also be screened at Vista Cinemas in Iloilo, Evia Lifestyle, Cinema Centenario, Cinema ’76, Black Maria, UP Cine Adarna and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Cinematheque Manila.

Here are the entries to the Cinema One Originals 2019:

Lucid

“Lucid” directed by Natts Jadaone, Victor Villanueva and Dan Villegas, tells the story of Anna Cruz, a lucid dreamer, who meets a man who challenges her to make her dreams more adventurous. The movie stars Alessandra de Rossi and JM De Guzman.

Metamorphosis

“Metamorphosis” is a coming-of-age story of Adam, a 14-year-old who was born with two both male and female genitals.. The movie directed by J. E. Tiglao stars Gold Aceron, Ivan Padilla, Iana Bernardez, Yayo Aguila and Ricky Davao.

O

Kevin Dayrit-helmed “O” tells the story of a morgue intern meeting a vampire who forces her to become a blood pusher. The black comedy film stars Anna Luna, Lauren Young and Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

Sila-Sila

Giancarlo Abrahan returns to Cinema One Originals with “Sila-Sila” which he describes as an “LGBT ghost story,” where a man whose breakups tend to be messy finds himself navigating feelings he had thought long gone.

Abrahan’s second feature “Paki” was the Best Picture in the 2017 Cinema One Originals festival.

Tayo Muna Habang Hindi Pa Tayo

Denise O’Hara makes her Cinema One Originals debut with romantic comedy film “Tayo Muna Habang Hindi Pa Tayo” starring Jane Oineza and JC Santos which tells the underside of trauma that even the truest of loves have.

Tia Madre

“Tia Madre” is a horror story told through the eyes of a 10-year-old whose mother inexplicably changes into something else, quite possible is not human. The Eve Baswel film stars Jana Agoncillo and Cherie Gil.

Utopia

The stories of a freelance videographer, a rookie police officer and an undercover agent intertwine after a comet flies over Manila and the cosmic disturbances turn everything on its head for one night.

Enzo Pineda, Joem Bascon and Aaron Villaflor star in “Utopia” directed by Dustin Celestino and Dustin Uy.

Yours Truly, Shirley

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez returns to the big screen with “Yours Truly, Shirley” where she plays the role of a widow who has not moved on from the death of her husband. Her grief involves imagining the newest pop sensation as the reincarnation of her dead husband.

The Nigel Santos film also stars Rayt Carreon and Dennis Padilla.
