MANILA, Philippines — Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards-starrer “Hello, Love, Goodbye” has been nominated as Best Asian Film at this year’s Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.
The film helmed by Cathy Garcia-Molina was described as a “highly relatable romantic-comedy” which “broke box office records” in AACTA’s announcement of nominees Tuesday via its official website.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” is now the highest-grossing Filipino film after it earned over P880 million, beating Bernardo and boyfriend Daniel Padilla’s 2018 movie “The Hows of Us” which was likewise directed by Garcia-Molina.

The film will be up against South Korea’s “Parasite” directed by Bong Joon-ho, the first Korean film to win the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Other films nominated as Best Asian Film are India’s “Andhadhun,” “Gully Boy,” and “Super Deluxe,” China’s “Ne Zha, “Shadow,” and “The Wandering Earth,” and Japan’s “We Are Little Zombies.”
The winner will be announced on December 4 at the 2019 AACTA Awards Ceremony in Sydney, Australia.
AACTA said the Best Asian Film award, which is part of its Asia International Engagement Program, “reflects the growing popularity and importance of Asian films in Australia.” /muf
