GMA Pinoy TV is all set to bring cheer to Kapusos in the US by way of “All 4 You: The Clash Concert,” featuring Lani Misalucha, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Christian Bautista and “The Clash’s” first grand champion Golden Cañedo. (Visit starmediaentertainment.com for details.)
It is set to happen on Oct. 19, 7 p.m. at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.
The concert also coincides with the Filipino American History Month.
It will definitely serve as an antidote to the homesickness of Pinoys abroad.
Here’s my chat with Lani:
Is it harder to please a Pinoy or a foreign audience? I find it easier to please Americans. They’re very appreciative and receptive.
When you prove to them what you can do onstage, they won’t hesitate to give you a standing ovation and applaud with gusto.
I get a bit scared when I perform for Pinoys. Since it’s in our nature to be reserved and laid-back, sometimes even if we enjoy and love a performance, we’re too shy to clap, except for millennials who are expressive and are always ready to get up on their feet when you ask them to.
What can the audience expect from the next season of “The Clash”? We have new “Clash” masters, Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose, and journey hosts, Ken Chan and Rita Daniela. They bring that millennial vibe and vibrant energy to the show, not to mention a new batch of talented contestants.
How do you, Christian, and Ai settle artistic difference as judges? We have to sort things out and talk about them. We have different views of choosing the kind of artist we want. So each of us explains why we chose a contestant and let go of the other one. We practice the art of compromise.
What’s your advice to Golden? First of all, I want to commend her. She has bloomed and her aura has changed. She must keep developing her star quality, keep learning from different artists and listen to all kinds of musical genres.
Aside from singing, what do you wish you could be good at? I wish I could be good at math.
What’s your personal anthem and why? My husband’s and my theme song is “All My Life.” It sums up our promise to each other that in a heartbeat, I would give everything to you, because that’s how much I love you.
