‘Bahay Bata’ wins in Spanish fest

After winning the grand jury trophy at the Deauville Asian film fest in France last week, Eduardo Roy’s “Bahay Bata” brought home the Jose Rivero award for best new director at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival held in Spain on March 24. The honor comes with a cash prize of 12,500 euros. The Cinemalaya film won special mention in Vancouver last year. Bayani San Diego Jr.
