Kid punk band Absolute Play—composed of Tanchanco siblings Mato (drums), Alto (guitar), and Murielle (vocals)—has released its self-titled, six-track EP album on the indie label 12 Stone Records. Lead single is “My Old Pal.”
Proceeds of album sales will go to Little Hands Foundation through its Kids Helping Kids Through Music campaign. The album is available at Odyssey Music outlets.
Cathy Go
Cathy Go, former lead singer of the band Sopiz, launched her debut album, “Find My Way To You” (Mayumi Records), with a live performance at Chic-Boy restaurant on Timog Avenue, Quezon City.
Album producer Mike Villegas also wrote most of the album’s 12 tracks, which includes the lead single “Ayaw Na Kung Ayaw,” currently enjoying airplay on several radio stations. The album is available at Astrovision and Astroplus record stores.
Robin Nievera
Robin Nievera’s self-written, 10-track debut album, “Overwait” (PolyEast Records) was launched with a show at Arnel Pineda’s Rockville club.
The singer-songwriter, who also plays guitar on his album, cites The Beatles, Incubus, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band and Bon Iver as influences. The album’s lead single is “In 3’s.”
Tria Bascon
Singer Tria Bascon, who travels the world as a performer in top hotels and luxury cruise liners, released her self-produced debut album, “Wanderlust,” with a live gig at Hard Rock Cafe Makati. Her guests included Beijing-based Italian pianist Moreno Donadel, Filipino-French duo Aquarela and top vocal group The CompanY—all of whom are likewise featured on the album.
Most of the 13 tracks on “Wanderlust” are pop and jazz standards that have appeared on film soundtracks: “Two For the Road”; “I’m Old Fashioned”; “Anos Dourados (Looks Like December)”; “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square”; “I Remember You”; “Perfidia”; “Arrivederci.” The lone original song, “Magkikita Pa Rin Naman Tayo,” was written by The CompanY’s Moy Ortiz who is also the album’s producer.
