Adam Levine gets thumbs down for cornrows

Adam Levine dared to show his new hairdo on Tuesday, Sept. 24—one he dubs the “corn hawk.”

The Maroon 5 frontman posted a picture on Instagram Stories of his hair in blonde cornrow braids, with the sides of his head shaved clean.

Candid photos of him in public show him sporting his new look and Twitter users have unleashed mostly negative sentiments about it, with some questioning his well-being.

“Adam Levine…..is everything okay at home??????????????” wondered one @afrojoons.

“Adam Levine’s cry for help,” one @MikeSington guessed.

Levine was also put in the spotlight for cultural appropriation, as cornrows are a known hairstyle in the black community. “Listen, I’m all about rockin’ your own style and ‘you doing you.’ But, Someone please tell Adam Levine that dreadlocks for white dudes is NEVER OK,” wrote Matt Kelly (@mattkellyradio).

Overall, it seems to have subtracted from Levine’s appeal, as one Juno (@av3sduk3) said, “I never thought the day would come where I’d no longer be attracted to Adam Levine but today is the day and this just is not a look for you sweetie.”  /ra
