Kim Molina never fails to make her mark in any role that she plays. Her background in theater has molded Kim to be “all in and all out.”
The time has finally come for Kim to be launched as a lead star in Viva Films’ “Jowable” (opens on Sept. 25). It is based on a viral short-film hit and a bestselling book.
She portrays Elsa, a 30-something no-boyfriend-since-birth girl, who wishes for her love life to be activated. In the age of dating apps, “Jowable” is so relatable as millennials have fun with all the wrong ones until the right one comes along.
Here’s my chat with Kim:
What makes a guy “jowable”? Someone who can accept whoever I am as a person wholeheartedly, without any hesitations. Someone who is proud to have me and will be my rock.
How has your movie changed your views about love? It opened my eyes more to all kinds of love. That love is everywhere, and that you just have to let it sink in and take a minute to feel it yourself.
If you like a guy, would you make the first move? Why not? I believe that making the first move nowadays is no big deal anymore.
What makes you nervous and excited about your launching movie? Everything. Though I’ve already been launched digitally by my iWant and Dreamscape family via “Momol Nights,” being launched solo on the silver screen is something else. I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it.
What do you find hard to understand about guys? Nothing, really. I was raised to look at every person equally. All of us have our own individuality and points of view. I try to understand someone based on who he/she is.
How did your experience in theater help you in your foray into TV and movies? The discipline instilled in theater has made the shift easier. Unlike in TV shows and movies, there is no “take two” in stage plays. So I’ve been trained to give my best from the get-go. I imagine that I’m still in theater, so my mind-set is that there are no retakes allowed.
Alden not blinded by fame
After the phenomenal success of Alden Richards’ movie with Kathryn Bernardo, “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” the actor is back on primetime TV. He headlines GMA 7’s inspirational drama, “The Gift,” which premiered last night after “Beautiful Justice” and airs weeknights.

Alden portrays Sep, a street-smart, high-spirited and visually-impaired vendor in Divisoria who’s blessed with the gift to perceive past and future events.
Unlike the character he plays, Alden is not blinded by fame. He remains grounded. The Kapuso hottie has undergone blind immersion training. He shared his realizations upon accepting the role.
“Sometimes, we take things for granted. Like, it’s normal for us to have the sense of sight. But what if one day we wake up blind? I talked to people who were not born blind. I was inspired by their stories. They may have lost their sense of sight, but not their hope to survive the daily struggles. Through our soap, I hope viewers will get to understand visually impaired people better.”
Alden has no leading lady in the series. He no longer needs one. The “AlDub” mania was good while it lasted. Now, Alden is off to discover his many other gifts.
