Millie Bobby Brown broke her silence after a week of criticism for “faking” a skincare routine that featured her own brand.
The “Stranger Things” star, 15, launched her own beauty line called Florence by Mills last August, with Gen Z teens like her in mind. Besides the use of bright pastels in the brand design, it is also cruelty-free and uses clean ingredients.
To promote it, she recently shared a video of her nightly skincare routine using the products. During the routine, Brown narrates that she is applying a face mist, scrub, face wash, moisturizer and lip oil. However, viewers noted that she was not applying any product during the demo, with her eye makeup staying intact for the duration of the video.

The video was initially on the makeup line’s Instagram page but has since been deleted. The remaining copy is on a YouTube fan account for Florence by Mills, which was uploaded on Sept. 7.
Some did argue that since the skincare line is sulfate-free, it would not lather up ,which may make it seem like nothing was being applied.
Turns out that cream that Millie uses in that video has sulfate in it so it sounds like her hands are dry. Overall it wasn’t that big of a deal and we went too far

Brown debunked this explanation, though, when she finally spoke up on the various reactions yesterday, Sept. 12, via Instagram.
She wrote: “I’m still learning the best way to share my routines as I get to know this space better—I’m not an expert.”
“I thought doing a quick video replicating my personal process for that night was okay, but that’s not what was conveyed,” she explained. “I understand, I appreciate all of your feedback on this journey, please keep sharing your thoughts and I will too!”
The teen actress can take comfort that she is not alone in such backlash, and older celebrities have been called out for supposedly faking the use of makeup or skincare products. They include “Pretty Little Liars” actress Shay Mitchell, who was mocked in September last year for failing to properly use a makeup remover. /ra
