Kim Chiu flew to Victoria, Canada, to visit her brother John Paul as well as meet his girlfriend, Vanessa. Based in Canada, John Paul officially became a professional pilot in May 2018.

Chiu shared her recent trip via her YouTube vlog, which she uploaded on Sept. 10.

This time, John Paul took his sister and his girlfriend Vanessa on a plane ride at the Victoria Flying Club.

“I’m so proud, nakakaiyak, para akong magulang right now and I’m just so happy with my brother John Paul and where he is right now… Nag shades na lang ako para di niya malaman na… naiiyak ako sa achievements niya,” Chiu told her fans after the ride. “Dati, as in, hindi niya talaga alam kung anong gagawin niya in life, but now nahanap na niya kung anong gusto niyang gawin and anong gusto niya maging and other than that is nahanap niya na rin yung laman ng puso niya…”

(I’m so proud, I feel like crying, I feel like a parent right now I’m just so happy with my brother John Paul and where he is right now… I just wore shades so he won’t know I’m crying… I feel like crying over his achievements. Before, as in, he really did not know what he wanted to do in life, but now he has discovered it and also found his love.)

The group also went hiking and then took to Fisherman’s Wharf to search for whales. Their search, however, was futile.

“Hindi siya ganun ka okay, masaya but not so saya kasi likod lang yung nakita namin, not so sulit (It wasn’t that okay, it was fun but not so much fun because we only saw the back [of the whale], it wasn’t that worth it),” Chiu said nonchalantly.

They also went to Butchart Gardens where they gamely posed for photos.

Afterwards, they took the ferry to Vancouver where they also went to another garden, this time a sunflower garden.

Chiu’s last day in Canada was spent roaming around Vancouver’s streets with John Paul, her older sister Twinkle, Vanessa, and their other friends.

“Sobra akong nag enjoy sa stay ko, everyone is sobrang fun kasama (I really enjoyed my stay here, everyone was fun to be with). I’m very happy that I decided to do a side trip dito sa Canada and to visit of course my little brother John Paul,” she said.

“It’s my second time na lumipad ng airplane kasama siya (to ride an airplane with him), so sobra akong na-proud (I’m very proud) after everything, na ayaw ko siyang maging pilot, but still pinush niya talaga (I didn’t want him to be a pilot but he pushed for it).”

She added that one must really work hard to achieve what he/she wants, so she and her family decided to trust in John Paul and support him in his dream.

“Nagtiwala kami, sinuportahan namin siya (we believed in him, we supported him) and now I’m so proud on where he is right now. I’m not sad pero naiiyak lang ako (I feel like crying),” she said.

“To sum up this entire trip, I must say that family always comes first and ang Pilipino no matter what tumagal dun sa isang lugar (no matter how long they stay in one place), or 10, 15 years or ilang years ka na (or how many years), pag magkita-kita yung mga Pilipino parang magkakilala kayo (when you see other Filipinos, you feel as if you know each other) and you feel like you’re home even though magkaiba kayo ng pinagtirhan (you live in different places)…”
