Ty Dolla $ign unveiled the accompanying music video for his single “Hottest in the City” last Monday, Sept. 9. He first performed the song on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in July.
The visual, directed by David Camarena, sees the rapper throwing a party in the middle of a strip club with guest collaborators Juicy J and Project Pat.
While exotic dancers show off their moves on the pole, the three rappers chronicle their relationship with a love interest who craves “new Chanel and Celine glasses.”
“Hottest in the City” arrived after the J. Cole-assisted song “Purple Emoji”, which will also be featured on Ty Dolla $ign’s new album, “Tyrone”.
Although details about the forthcoming project are still scarce, it will follow his 2018 studio effort, “Mih Ty”, created in collaboration with American singer-songwriter Jeremih.
In a recent interview with Spin, the rapper explained that he wanted to make a more personal full-length piece.
“I wasn’t focused on, like, ‘Oh, let’s go make some f**in’ generic-a** hit, you know, get the club going. I just wanted to give people some good music to listen to — something that sounds different from everybody else’s sh*t,” he said.
Ahead of the album release, Ty Dolla $ign is currently on tour across the United States as a supporting act on Chris Brown’s “IndiGOAT” tour. RGA/JB
