Possible early release of Antonio Sanchez alarms Sunshine Cruz
MANILA, Philippines — Actress Sunshine Cruz expressed alarm over the possible early release of convicted rapist-murderer and former Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez.
Cruz took to Facebook Thursday to reminisce portraying the role of Sanchez’s victim Eileen Sarmenta in Carlo J. Caparas’ 1993 film “Humanda Ka Mayor!: Bahala Na Ang Diyos.”
The actress recalled being scared of the late veteran actor Dick Israel who played the role of Sanchez.
“I played Eileen Sarmenta in a movie I did before under Regal/Golden Lions. Kuya Dick Israel played the Mayor convicted of rape and murder. I remember being so scared of Kuya Dick Israel dahil sobrang galing umarte. Sobrang realistic that it was really scary,” Cruz said.
At the same time, the actress stressed those who think Sanchez deserves freedom should “think twice.”

Sanchez is among the 10,000 inmates that may benefit from Republic Act No. 10592, which increased the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) given to inmates.
