MANILA, Philippines – Singer and theater actor Nyoy Volante bagged the role of Signor Pirelli in Atlantis Theatrical’s musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
Volante announced his stint in the musical Wednesday in an Instagram post: “I am Adolfo Pirelli da king of da barbers, da barber of kings… E buon giorno, good day!”
Tony award-winning actress Lea Salonga, who will portray Mrs. Lovett in the musical, also shared the news over her Instagram account.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waaaaaaaaiting to announce this!!!!!! @nyoyvolante will be playing Pirelli!!!!!!!!” Salonga wrote.
In December last year, it was announced that rock icon Jett Pangan will play the titular role “Sweeney Todd.”

Fresh from his stint in “Miss Saigon” in the United Kingdom, Gerald Santos also recently joined the cast as Anthony Hope.

Directed by Bobby Garcia, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” will open on October 11 at The Theater at Solaire. /gsg
