For “Crazy Rich Asians” star Gemma Chan, there’s nothing crazier than pole dancing in Celine Dion’s bus.
The Chinese-British actress recalled being stunned when the pop diva asked her to join her for a ride, after the two met at the swanky Met Gala earlier this year.
“She was an absolute f**king legend. It was me, her and her dancers … just dancing on this bus. It was the best half an hour of my life. I can’t believe it happened. Nothing will top that,” Gemma said in an interview with the Observer. “I pole danced on a bus with Celine Dion.”
Getting a coveted invite to the exclusive party—which is headed by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour—can only mean that Gemma, at the very least, is on the radar of Hollywood’s who’s who. But still, she can’t help but feel out of place at the event.
“That whole experience was so surreal,” Gemma said of attending the gala, which she described as like being in a Madame Tussauds museum.
“I had Joan Collins on one side, Kim Kardashian and Kanye (West) in front of me. Gwyneth (Paltrow) just there,” she said. “They’re all talking to each other, because they know each other, and you’re just standing there going, ‘This is mental!” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
