Ogie Diaz disapproved of actor Phillip Salvador’s words after the latter harshly said that President Rodrigo Duterte’s critics can all die.
Salvador apparently made the remarks a few hours before Duterte’s fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday, July 22.

Diaz took to social media on the same day to share a video of Salvador making the remarks. As per Diaz, he does not like Salvador’s message to Duterte’s critics.
“Dear Kuya Ipe, mahal kita, alam mo yan. Hindi ko lang gusto ‘yung mensahe mo para sa mga bumabatikos sa Pangulo,” Diaz said via Facebook. “Mamatay ba agad? Hindi ba pwedeng ‘manahimik’ lang muna, kahit nga ‘mamatay kayo sa inggit,’ kaya nang tanggapin, eh.”
(Dear Kuya Ipe, I love you, you know that. I just do not like your message to the President’s critics. Die immediately? Can’t it be “be quiet”? Even “die of envy” would be acceptable).
Salvador’s remarks seemed unacceptable to Diaz, who asked him what if he had relatives who were detractors of the president.
“Pero yung mag-wish ka ng death sa mga kababayan mo, partikular sa mga ayaw sa Pangulo? Paano kung me mga kamag-anak kang detractors ng Pangulo? Gusto mo rin silang mamatay, gano’n?” Diaz said. “Nobody’s perfect. Kahit ang Pangulo, hindi rin perpekto. Lalo na ikaw, di ba?”
(But to wish death to your fellow countrymen, particularly those who do not like the President? What if you have relatives who are detractors of the President? So you also want them to die? Nobody’s perfect, even the President is not perfect. Especially you, right?)
Diaz also said he does not think he is capable of saying what Salvador said should he be close to someone like Senator Bong Go.
“Kahit naman ako siguro madikit kay Sen. Bong Go, hindi ko kayang sabihin ‘yan. Kahit ‘yun mismong bina-bodyguard mong si Sen. Bong Go hindi rin kayang sabihin ‘yan,” he added. “Kaya sana, hinay-hinay lang. Para hindi mag-reflect sa Pangulo.”
(I don’t think I can say that, even if I were close to Sen. Bong Go. Even the very man you are guarding, Sen. Bong Go, cannot say that. I hope you take it easy so this won’t reflect on the President). JB
