Here’s a first look at Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” revival, showing star-crossed love birds Tony (Ansel Elgort) and Maria (Rachel Zegler) surrounded by members of rival gangs, The Jets and The Sharks.
The cast of Bernstein and Sondheim’s screen musical from 20th Century Fox also includes Ariana DeBose (Anita), Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Shrank) Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke) and executive producer Rita Moreno (Anita in the 1961 classic), who now plays Valentina.
Its enduring show tunes include “Somewhere,” “Maria,” “Tonight,” “One Hand, One Heart” and “Something’s Coming.” It will be released by The Walt Disney Studios in 2020. —RITO P. ASILO
