MANILA, Philippines — Actress Maxene Magalona chopped off her waist-length hair and donated it to benefit cancer-stricken patients.
Magalona showed off her new hairstyle and the amount of hair she donated in an Instagram post Thursday.
“Finally decided to go for it and just cut my hair! I was always so scared to do it, thinking that my hips were too huge and that I needed long hair to balance things out,” she wrote as caption.
She also thanked her husband Rob Mananquil for encouraging her to cut her hair for a cause.
“Thanks to my husband @robmananquil who never fails to encourage me, I finally mustered up the courage to do it! And I’m so glad he convinced me because I got to donate my hair again but this time to @hairforhope.heads at @headsbyvolumed_manila!”
Magalona donated her hair to “Hair for Hope,” a charity encouraging people to donate their hair to those in need like cancer patients.
“You can also donate yours to them, if you’re ever planning to have your long locks chopped too! They turn your hair into quality wigs for cancer patients who want to feel confident and beautiful,” she said.
“These wigs give them a sense of hope and the strength to continue to fight their battle with cancer,” she added. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
