MANILA, Philippines — GMA Network  is now investigating the absence of medical personnel on the set where actor Eddie Garcia reportedly suffered a neck fracture.

After being initially reported that Garcia suffered a heart attack during the taping of a teleserye for GMA Network, screenwriter and director Bibeth Orteza clarified that the actor tripped on a cable wire and fractured his neck.

“It has been the Network’s practice to have medical personnel and ambulance crew on standby whenever the production is executing big action scenes during taping,” GMA said in a statement on Monday.

“This has been likewise the practice of other GMA programs. Given this, we are currently investigating the absence of a medical team on the set last Saturday, June 8,” it added.

The network also assured that “the management is committed to getting to the bottom of this unfortunate incident.”

“GMA Network is deeply saddened with what happened to Mr. Eddie Garcia,” GMA Network said.

The network on Sunday released a statement saying it was “seriously reviewing” a video of Garcia reportedly collapsing during the said taping.

“The video of Mr. Eddie Garcia faltering in his steps & eventually collapsing has reached GMA. We are seriously reviewing the said video as well as other videos of the same scene which our cameras also took, before we make any conclusions on what really transpired,” the network said in a statement.
