Rihanna makes fashion history
Rihanna recently made history by being the first woman and person of color to have her own fashion brand under the prestigious luxury goods conglomerate LVMH.
And while she appeared cool and collected at the recent launch of her debut collection for her line, Fenty, she admitted that she couldn’t help but feel nervous, as renowned designers, like Olivier Rousteing of Balmain and Maria Grazia Chiuri of Dior looked at her designs.
“It’s all a facade,” she told the Associated Press. “I’m passionate about what I do, so there’s pressure every single second. It’s not like crumbling pressure, but it’s like, ‘You better get it good, girl.’”
“This is a moment in history … It’s a big deal for me and my entire generation,” added Rihanna, whose day-to-day style depends on how she’s feeling. “How comfortable I want to be, how badass I want to be, how conservative or sexy. I feel like women are multifaceted in that way, and Fenty celebrates that.”
One of Rihanna’s dreams is to see people walking on the streets, wearing her clothes. “I hope I can reach a broad audience,” she was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.
