Toni Gonzaga grateful despite dad’s Taytay poll defeat

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Toni Gonzaga opted to see the positive side of his father, Vice Mayor Carlito “Bonoy” Gonzaga’s loss in the Taytay, Rizal mayoralty race.

Gonzaga bared on Thursday that their family was prepared for any outcome in the midterm elections.

“Prepared kami sa outcome from the very start, prepared na ‘yung family namin and my dad did his best. He fought a good fight. He fought clean,” Gonzaga said in an ambush interview after the press conference of her sitcom “Home Sweetie Home.”

The 35-year-old television personality said she is grateful for the love and support they received and the fact that her father is safe.

“After everything that he has been through and what we have witnessed during the whole campaign, the only thing that we are grateful for is that my dad is still alive and he’s still with us,” Gonzaga said.

Asked if her father received any death threats during the campaign, Gonzaga said, “I don’t want to go in to details about the whole situation that happened but what I really want to say is I’m grateful.”

“I’m grateful sa love and support na nakita namin. I’ve never seen this much love and support mula sa kababayan namin and that is enough for me,” she added.

“Mas masaya kami actually kasi mas makakasama na namin siya lagi. ‘Pag nagtravel kami, hindi na siya uuwi nang maaga kasi lagi niya kaming iniiwan e ‘pag nagtatravel kaming family kasi nga may responsibility siya,” she said.
