Why Kylie Verzosa fell for Jake Cuenca

What better way to usher in the Mother’s Day season than by watching a movie about the joys and woes of motherhood. Ai-Ai delas Alas topbills Viva Films’ “Sons of Nanay Sabel” with the popular rap group Ex Battalion and former Miss International Kylie Verzosa.

I was impressed by Kylie’s portrayal of a scorned woman in “Kasal.” She has such commanding presence. Her superb acting almost made me forget that the beauty queen is a neophyte in show biz. There’s definitely more to Kylie than being Miss International. She has that certain je ne sais quoi (indescribable quality).

Here’s my chat with Kylie:

What’s your fave scene in the movie? The montage of when I take out the guys on a date to the beach.

What did you learn after working with Ai-Ai? To always be humble.

What makes you click with Jake Cuenca? We have the same passions.

What’s your dream wedding? Outdoor, open space, with a scenic view—a place that holds meaning to the both of us, whoever he is.

What’s the craziest thing you did for love? I fell flat on my face, only to be saved. I always give my all.

You always seem so poised. Any “wa-poise” (unglamorous) moments? I’ve tripped a lot. I can be clumsy at times, or speak without a filter, especially in the wee hours of the morning.

What’s your unsolicited advice to the 2019 batch of Bb. Pilipinas candidates? The candidates now are learning more and more from the past years. I would like them to adapt to modern times, not sticking to stereotype, just being natural and honest at what they do, trusting their instinct and heart. But don’t be fooled—[being a beauty queen] comes with a lot of preparation, so prepare before the big day.

If you would be a judge in Bb. Pilipinas, what question would you want to ask the top five finalists? What’s your reason for joining BBP, and how do you plan to continue it after your reign?
