Three seasons later, the zombie comedy “Santa Clarita Diet” is done “dieting”—for good. It was recently announced by Netflix that the third season of the show was indeed its last.

But, star Drew Barrymore prefers to remember the good times. “Of all of the characters I’ve ever been, Sheila Hammond is one of my favorites,” said the actress-executive producer in a statement. “She and Joel (Timothy Olyphant) were an amazing couple, who had shared goals.”

The ex-child star added, “I am lucky to have worked alongside Tim Olyphant. It was an honor to get to do something so delightful. Sheila lives forever in me. And I am grateful to Victor Fresco, who created a world so unique.”

Olyphant said of the decision: “I loved working on this show. I’m going to continue coming in and doing scenes. If they don’t want to film it, that’s up to them.”

Just last March, Barrymore posted on Instagram a photo of herself and her costar, while promoting the final season. “The Hammonds got Hollywood for our premiere,” she said. “We hope you lose yourself in the fun of the show! We work like Fred (Astaire) and Ginger (Rogers), [without missing] a step, and [we’re having] fun while we do it! Dream partners and a respectful duo!” —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
