Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Cherie Gil may have been rivals in “Bituing Walang Ningning,” but as far as this rivalry is concerned, it’s safe to say that it does not extend to real life.
Cuneta, who has been quite busy lately, recently reached out to Gil via social media in response to a throwback photo of the two of them that Gil posted back in February. In the photo, Cuneta and Gil can be seen hugging each other close, a sweet moment kept by talent manager Girlie Rodis.
“Great times. Missing this woman @reallysharoncuneta nasan ka na (where are you)?” Gil said via Instagram back in February.
Cuneta responded to Gil’s post just today, May 1, almost three months after, but her response showed just how much Gil means to her. Cuneta told Gil she recently taped for talkshow “Showbiz Pa More!” where she was shown photos of the two of them from their iconic film.
“I said that YOU are my real partner and that I HAVE TO GIVE YOU 50% CREDIT FOR OUR MOVIE,” Cuneta said via Instagram. “THERE COULD NEVER HAVE BEEN MY DORINA WITHOUT YOUR LAVINIA!”
“It’s true though. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for being my ‘better half’ in ALL of our movies together,” she added.
Cuneta said Gil has been such a huge part of her career, which is why it is necessary she share every bit of her success with her.
“Life has gotten in the way of time we should have been able to spend together over these last several years,” Cuneta said. “But do not ever mistake that for you not being in my heart, ALWAYS.”
Gil, meanwhile, was overjoyed to hear from Cuneta and understood just how busy she is. Even so, she told Cuneta that they must get together soon for a much-needed catch-up.
“I know how busy you are. Life has taken us through different paths and yet I know, and YOU know how much you mean to me,” said Gil. “I do so want to know how you truly are doing! I see great things happening but I still would want to hold and hug you tight!” /ra
