Veteran actor John Arcilla was all praises for director Erik Matti and co-star Megastar Sharon Cuneta after they capped off their shooting of “Kuwaresma.”

Not everyone can say they have good chemistry with their director and co-star, but Arcilla can. He recently paid homage to Matti and Cuneta via social media where he shared some behind-the-scenes moments from their shooting in Baguio.

Notice that we are so relaxed and our behind the scene moments are just cool and fun,” Arcilla said via Instagram on April 26. “After you watch this film you will wonder how and why we can still enjoy our breaks. It is because Erik Matti is so cool as a director.”

Arcilla shared how Matti’s set is both organized and spontaneous. He also credited the director for his openness in taking suggestions to get a scene done.

“His day is always planned and ready but he’s open for all the possible adjustments that will come his way. Amazing,” he said. “If Sharon is a very generous co-actor, Erik is a director generous to his actors. He never hesitates to express his appreciation to your work. Basta narinig mo siya na sumigaw (once you hear him shout) ‘BEAUTIFUL’ ‘I LIKE IT’ the more that you will be inspired to do more.”

Matti, on the other hand, was happy to have worked with Arcilla, who he called one of the best actors in the country.

“I’m glad to have worked with John who, to me, is one of the best actors in this country,” Matti commented on Arcilla’s post. “Smart, raw, organic, passionate and very instinctive. You just don’t know how much you always surprise me with your work.”

Arcilla also praised his co-star Cuneta, who made his day by recently surprising him with a lechon and a “Heneral Luna” suman cake in his own home.

“This is one of the best days of my lechon experiences. Friends who have known me, knew how Lechon makes me strut,” Arcilla gushed via Instagram on April 29. “Thank you Shawie you made [my] day!”

“No reasons why she’s not the mega,” he added. “Just look at her eyes, feel her, and you’ll get what you need in a scene and gives back what you gave her.”

“Kuwaresma,” which is produced under Matti’s production company Reality Entertainment, is slated to open in cinemas on May 15.  /ra
