Ogie shields Regine from Ben Tulfo’s tirade

MANILA, Philippines – Singer Ogie Alcasid came to the defense of his wife, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez after radio host Ben Tulfo “maligned” her in a Facebook livestream.

This was after Velasquez called out Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. when he said the Philippines and China must not go to war over some kind of shellfish, but the latter should just pay for it.

“Sir @bitagbentulfo . I offer my cheek to you. After you have maligned my wife I ask that you focus on me. She is after all a lady. God bless you sir,” Alcasid said in a tweet Wednesday.

Tulfo berated Velasquez in a Facebook livestream on Sunday saying: “Ang mensahe ko sa ‘yo, Regine Velasquez, next time you open your mouth, think. Make sure na may laman ang utak mo.”

“Wala naman talagang kaalaman sa pagdating sa sinasabing kanilang mga pananaw pagdating sa foreign affairs…Ano bang alam nitong si Regine Velasquez other than kumanta lamang?” Tulfo added.

Tulfo then replied to Alcasid saying he should tell his wife to focus on her career instead.

“I am not here to hurt anyone. I am talking with sincerity and truthfulness. This is a serious issue. Tell your wife to focus in her career. Please, not Foreign relations and issues. I do respect you and your wife,” Tulfo said.

“Thank you for your reply and your sincere advice. I respect your view on these matters also. God bless always,” Alcasid said. /gsg
