Twenty One Pilots
The musical duo Twenty One Pilots has achieved massive success in the past few years, with its last two albums, “Blurryface” and “Trench,” spawning numerous platinum-selling singles.
But they’re not stopping there. “Why not dream big? Why not have as many people hear us and our art as possible? It’s fun. It’s cool to continue to travel and play music and have that be our jobs,” lead vocalist Tyler Joseph told Dork magazine.
To this day, Tyler said he and his bandmate, drummer Josh Dun, feel that they still have something to prove. “I don’t know if we’ll ever get to a point where we feel like we’ve won everybody over and it’s on cruise control,” he said.
Upcoming festivals
The American band, who mixes alternative hip-hop, rock and electropop, is behind such hits as “Stressed Out,” “Ride” and the “Suicide Club” theme song, “Heathens.”
Tyler and Josh are also set to headline the eagerly anticipated upcoming Reading and Leeds festivals.
“We kept our heads down and just kept grinding every day. It’s like when you don’t see a nephew for a long time; you realize he grew up and got taller,” Tyler said of Twenty One Pilot’s gradual growth in popularity.
“We just didn’t feel how gigantic everything got for us doing that touring cycle,” he added. “It’s not until we look back on it after having a little break that we realized how special it was.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
