Movie moguls’ sons team up

MANILA, Philippines–The sons have succeeded in doing what their parents have been trying to do for the past three decades.

Dondon Monteverde of Reality Entertainment and Vincent del Rosario of Viva signed a five-picture deal on Wednesday.

Del Rosario confirmed the news, adding that their first two projects are Erik Matti’s adult drama “Rigodon” (with Maxine Eigenmann, Yam Concepcion) and Topel Lee’s horror flick “Pagpag” (with Claudine Barretto, Mark Anthony Fernandez and Heart Evangelista).

Said Del Rosario: “We were able to fulfill our parents’ dream to work together.”

Their parents are behind the studios Regal (Lily Monteverde) and Viva (Vic del Rosario) which dominated the movie scene in the 1980s.

Although their parents were “rivals,” they were able to work together last year. “We brought our film ‘Tumbok’ to Dondon’s post-production firm. But Viva was just his client then. Now we’re partners.”

He described the partnership as a “straight co-production deal. We will split everything. We’re very happy about this development.”

Del Rosario related that he and Monteverde had sought their parents’ permission before inking the deal which he described as “exciting.”

“Our working relationship can go beyond movies. We can do TV shows as well,” he said.
