Robin Padilla to Rep. Alejano: ‘Lumusob tayo sa Spratlys’
Action star Robin Padilla believes the Philippines is defenseless should China attack the country. He addressed Magdalo party-list representative and opposition senatorial candidate Gary Alejano and said they should take it upon themselves to attack the Spratly Islands.
He made his remarks on social media where he shared a report of Alejano who asked the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to give the Otso Diretso slate a clearance to visit Scarborough Shoal.
“Gayahin natin ang mga Tausug ng Sultanate of Sulu ipakita natin sa ninunong China na handa rin tayong mga Katipunero na sundan ang yapak ng mga [rebolusyonaryong] Tausug,” said Padilla via Instagram on April 16.
(We should emulate the Tausugs of the Sultanate of Sulu and show China that we, the Katipuneros, are ready to follow the footsteps of the revolutionary Tausugs).
He added that he has asked permission from his wife, Mariel, and his children since they are not in the Philippines and that nothing tastes sweeter than dying for one’s own country.

(Let’s take this upon ourselves and attack Spratlys, let’s attack them and emulate the Tausugs. Don’t worry, I will follow your plan because you are a former Marine, you are no doubt greater than I am when it comes to military tactics, so let’s do this. I won’t go against your plan, let’s embrace being heroes in this time.)
Opposition senatorial candidates Gary Alejano, Chel Diokno, Florin Hilbay and Samira Gutoc denounced the Duterte administration recently after they were blocked from visiting Scarborough Shoal. The candidates planned to visit and plant a Philippine flag there as a “symbolic positive step” to the arbitral award granted to the Philippines in 2016.
The PCG apparently refused to give the boat owners permit if there is recording equipment in the boat and warned such equipment would be confiscated.
The opposition candidates also challenged the administration candidates yesterday, April 16, to go with them or go on their own to Scarborough Shoal. /ra
