MANILA, Philippines—Filipinos might be upset with Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch for mixing up the Philippines with some other country where he said he was harassed by an airport customs officer but that doesn’t stop Malacañang from inviting him over to make him realize how it’s more fun in the Philippines.
A day after asking the lead star of the movie “John Carter” to apologize after wrongfully identifying the Philippines as the country where he was harassed at an airport, Secretary Edwin Lacierda, President Aquino’s spokesperson, reiterated Malacañang’s demand for redress from the actor.
This time, Lacierda indicated Kitsch may need to experience first-hand the truth to the Department of Tourism’s slogan, “It’s more fun in the Philippines.”
“The least we would expect from him and from those who uttered, it is to express a profound apology to our country because it wrongly demeaned and it will affect our international image,” Lacierda said in Tuesday’s news briefing in Malacanang.
“It’s more fun in the Philippines so come over and apologize,” he added before letting out a laugh.
