Giselle Sanchez expressed her immense joy as her daughter Lia Buencamino finished junior high school and bagged two academic awards.
The comedienne shared her daughter’s milestone in an Instagram post last Wednesday, April 3. Buencamino finished junior high school at the Saint Pedro Poveda College in Quezon City, and was joined by her mom, dad Emil and younger brother Xavier during her moving up ceremony.
“Dear [Lia], today you made me so proud of you graduating [junior high] with two academic awards!” Sanchez said. She also stated that one of Lia’s awards was ironically from her Spanish subject, which Lia dreaded.
“You have bloomed and matured to be the lady I always dreamt of having- a beautiful, intelligent, responsible, mature, God-fearing daughter,” she gushed. “You are indeed the whole package.”
She added that she believes Lia will be “great someday,” and will help many people and change lives.
In another series of Instagram posts, Sanchez shared a photo of herself and her daughter at the beach, along with a photo of her daughter’s diploma and certificates for scholastic achievements.
“Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na may anak na akong nakapagtapos ng Junior High School at may 2 academic awards pa,” Sanchez said.
(I still cannot believe that I have a daughter who not only finished junior high school, but also bagged two academic awards.)
Sanchez, who was an honor student herself at the same school, remembered what her own mother told her: “Edukasyon lang ang mabibigay nila sa akin pagtanda nila.”
(Education is the only thing they can give me as they grow old.)
Aside from being an honor student at Poveda, Sanchez graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines-Diliman with a degree in BA Broadcast Communication.
As a way to treat her daughter, Sanchez took her for a vacation at Lakawon Island in Cadiz, Negros Occidental.
Way to go, Lia! JB
