Tirso Cruz III turned 67 years old on Monday, and had a blast a day before in the company of family and friends.
The veteran actor said his wife, Lynn Ynchausti, and their children Bodie and Djanin surprised him with a party on the eve of his birthday. This was seen in an Instagram post on Sunday, March 31.
Based on the photo, the party was attended by some of his fellow celebrities including Christopher de Leon and wife Sandy Andolong, and Ricky Davao.
In his post, Cruz narrated to his departed son Teejay how he celebrated his birthday. Teejay succumbed to lymphatic cancer in November 2018.
“Your mother never ceases to amaze me and I love her for all the wonderful things she has done for me,” he said about Ynchausti, adding he was “really caught completely off guard because the last thing on my mind was to celebrate.”
He said the birthday celebration made him happy and sad at the same time. “Happy because I felt so loved by your mama, Bodie, Djanin and all the special friends who came,” Cruz said. “Sad, because it would have been the perfect surprise if only you were there to greet me too.”
And on his actual birthday on April 1, Cruz and his family opted to have a simple dinner. They were also joined by the children of his good friend, act0r-director Edgar Mortiz.
Indeed, it was a happy birthday for Pip. /ra
