WATCH: Filipino singer Jej Vinson advances to next round of ‘The Voice US’

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino singer Jej Vinson has advanced to the next round of “The Voice US” after he went head-to-head with a fellow contestant from coach Kelly Clarkson’s team.

Vinson, 23, battled on stage with Beth Griffith-Manley as they perform their rendition of the song “Jealous” by Labrinth.

“Both of you I wanted on my team so both of you were incredible today,” coach John Legend said after the performance.

“Jej, your tone was really interesting and cool. Beth, the same thing actually. Both of your voices don’t sound like I’ve heard the song before, but you both really sounded great doing it,” said Legend.

Adam Levine was also all praises for the two contestants, but said he picks Vinson for this round.

“I want to first say the unison that you guys did was maybe the best I’ve ever heard. It was perfect. It was amazing how your voices melted together,” Levine said.

“Yeah, this is a tough one, but I’m probably gonna go with Jej just because there were times you did upstage Beth a little bit. But Beth, the sky’s the limit for you,” he added.

Vinson and Manley’s coach, Clarkson, pointed out how they blended well and how they precisely hit every note.

“I’m so excited you all exactly did what I asked you because you are so incredibly talented. That’s why not only the unison parts were so in sync, but what you all did in harmony, it is note-on-note on point. That’s insane. That’s how incredibly talented you both are,” she said.

In the end, Clarkson chose the Los Angeles-based Vinson to advance to the next round.

Although Manley lost, she was fortunately “stolen” by Legend to be part of his team.
