“The Umbrella Academy” actor Tom Hopper, who plays Luther, aka the superhero Number One, has kind words for his young costar Cameron Brodeur. The latter plays the younger version of his crime-fighting character in flashbacks.
“I have so much love for this kid,” said the 34-year-old English actor, whose other series credits include “Merlin” and “Game of Thrones.” “He’s the most respectful young man. We discussed regularly who Luther was when he was a kid, and what events [affected] him so badly to change him into [a] troubled man.”
Hopper further gushed, “Cameron was always so eager to learn everything about the character to make his performance more wholesome—and that really shows.”
The 16-year-old actor from Canada brought “such brilliant innocence and sensitivity” to the role, said Hopper, adding, “You have a big future, my friend.”
Grateful, Brodeur responded, “Big love to you, too, Tom… You inspire me so much, and I aspire to be like you when I get older.” —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
