MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has shared the story behind how she broke her Mikimoto crown during her homecoming parade in Manila.
The official Miss Universe Facebook page posted on Wednesday a video of Gray recalling the incident.
“So one of the things I love the most about the parade is that they have this moving band and they have the drums and it makes me wanna dance, so I end up dancing, although I’m not a very good dancer,” Gray said.
“But guys, I have a confession. The Mikimoto has seen better days as a result of my dancing. I’m so sorry,” she said as she held a piece of her pearl-encrusted Mikimoto crown.
A piece of Gray’s Mikimoto crown fell off during her homecoming parade in Cubao, Quezon City last February 24, as seen in an Instagram video posted by a fan page.
Meanwhile, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) assured in the comment section of its post, “Don’t worry! It’ll be fixed in no time.”
Gray returned to the Philippines in February 2019 to celebrate her Miss Universe victory with homecoming festivities.
