Actor Luke Perry is fondly remembered by his costars and friends from their teen-centric shows, the ’90s drama series “Beverly Hills 90210” and the ongoing “Archie”-inspired “Riverdale.”
Perry, who played teen rebel Dylan McKay and struggling dad Fred Andrews in the aforesaid shows, respectively, died last week, days after suffering a massive stroke.
Shannen Doherty, who played Brenda and was paired with Perry in “90210,” told People, “I am in shock. Heartbroken. Devastated by the loss of my friend. I have so many memories with Luke that make me smile and that are forever imprinted in my heart and mind.”
Another ex-costar, Jennie Garth (who played Kelly), also told the magazine, “He meant so much to so many. Such a very special person.”
Jason Priestley (Brandon) wrote on Instagram: “My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared.”
Meanwhile, Molly Ringwald, who played his ex-wife Mary in “Riverdale,” tweeted, “I will miss you so much, Luke Perry. Sending all my love to your family.”
Another “Riverdale” castmate, Mädchen Amick (Alice), said in a statement, “Luke had become a dear friend. We laughed. We cried. We shared our show biz war stories. We shared how proud we are as parents … I will love you forever, Luke.”
