Joey De Leon’s mother Emma passes away at 93

MANILA, Philippines – Comedian-host Joey De Leon’s mother Emma Manahan Ramos has passed away at age 93.

Keempee De Leon, Joey’s eldest son, announced the news in an Instagram photo: “2-10-19. 10 pm… Our last Sunday with our Dear Loving Mama Emma.”

In the caption, Keempee wrote: “Lord, please Bless and Welcome Mama Emma in your Holy Kingdom. Sleep now mama.”

Joey also dedicated a post to his late mother, saying “Wala nang maka-quorum sa mahjongg ang ermats ko kaya nag-last jai-alai na kagabi! Love you Ma! Together again sila ni Papa Pepe! Play este, PRAY for us!”

Jako and Jio, Joey’s other children, also paid tribute to their grandmother.

Jako posted side-by-side photos of an old and a recent picture with his Mama Emma.

“I, for one, will always grateful for you. Thank you Mama Emma for everything. I will never forget you. Love You,” Jako wrote.

Jio, on the other hand, reminisced the last time he spoke with his Mama Emma.

He recounted,  “The last time I really got to speak with Mama Emma just a little over a week ago. She wasn’t a hundred percent but she was still joking around with me about her mahjong games and how I’d give her money to bet in her games.”
