Ice Seguerra, Liza Diño take first step at having baby via IVF

MANILA, Philippines – Singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra and wife Liza Diño have taken the first step in their journey of having a baby through in

vitro fertilization (IVF).

The couple in the past have said that they are planning to conceive a baby through IVF with the eggs from Seguerra and a donor sperm, which will then be carried by his wife Diño.

In multiple Instagram updates late Thursday, Diño first shared a short clip of her and Seguerra before the latter goes through the harvesting process of her eggs.

“Today is THE DAY. Ice’s eggs are going to be harvested after a 12-day ‘turok sa lubot’ (butt injection) process,” she wrote in the caption.

“We are really doing it!!! And today marks the first phase in our journey to have a baby,” she added.

Diño also noted how her other half  has started to prepare as early as October last year for the process.

“Since last year October, Ice has been preparing himself for this day. He started taking Estrogen pills to prepare his body for the process. Sya lang yata ang transman na nagtetake ng estrogen (hahaha!) but he is determined,” she said.

“We are both determined that we’re going to try to fulfill our wish to have a new member sa family,” she added.

“Ice has been very diligent sa pagtake ng pills nya. And ito ngang 12-day process na gawing pantay-pantay ang laki ng mga eggs nya, sobrang naging patient and optimistic sya.”

In a separate post, Diño disclosed that it was a challenge for Seguerra’s ovaries to  produce eggs that are “significant enough to be harvested.”

“It wasn’t easy actually. For the first 4 days, Ice’s eggs are not growing and his right ovary is not producing eggs significant enough to be harvested so natakot kami ng slight kasi baka hindi enough yung maharvest and for a time ako yung natatakot na baka hindi magrespond yung body nya sa meds,” Diño said.

But in the end, as per Diño’s most recent Instagram post about the process, doctors were able to harvest “[three] good eggs from Ice.”

“Successful procedure!!! Thank you Lord,” Diño wrote in the caption to accompany a clip of the couple singing a nursery rhyme to mark the occasion.

“I have three eggs, it’s tall on left, the one on the right is clear and bright. Inside my tummy, 1, 2, 3, three big eggs are good to see!” they sang and ended the video with big smiles and a thumbs-up from Seguerra.

The couple married on December 8, 2014 in California where same-sex marriage was first legalized in 2008.

They also had a wedding ceremony in Batangas which was considered a symbolic ceremony to celebrate their union with family. /gsg
