MANILA, Philippines — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. should “own it and fix it,” comedienne Ethel Booba said on Tuesday amid passport data breach issue at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Ethel quoted a tweet of the foreign affairs official last Saturday that read: “The problem started under GMA’s DFA and got worse under PNoy’s DFA. IT WILL BE SOLVED BY PRRD’s DFA under [Locsin].”

“The yellow crowd who perpetrated the passport fraud are in a panic because we are gonna autopsy their crooked deal. Period,” Locsin’s tweet added.

The comedienne then said, “Did it happen during those aforementioned admins? No. This happened under your watch.”

“Now own it and fix it so we can move on. Gosh, it contains my fingerprints, signature and gender. Charot!” she added.

Former Foreign Affairs secretary Perfecto Yasay traces the passport mess to the time of President Benigno Aquino III when the collection of data and the production of passports were transferred from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to a government printer that entered into a partnership with a private corporation.

Yasay called the transfer as questionable and the partnership as “in violation of the law.”

Locsin vowed to unmask the people responsible for the data breach, saying “Those behind the passport mess will launch a social media campaign against me. I will identify them. Apparently, the mess crosses partisan lines.” /cbb
