(First of two parts)
As 2019 unfolds, I cornered some celebs about their “hashtags” for the new year and also the most important lesson that 2018 taught them.
Year after year, stars ought to maintain their staying power. It comes with the job description. Who was hot last year may be passé this year. That’s the way show biz goes.
May we look back at 2018 and look forward to 2019 with naughty grins and enigmatic smiles.
AIKO MELENDEZ: #WinningInLife
I want to prove to people that with hard work comes winning. My important lesson is to keep trusting the process. Nothing comes easy, but God sees our hearts. He will restore everything and give us more than what we deserve.
CARLA ABELLANA: #ThinkPositive
The most important lesson I learned in 2018 is whatever I can no longer handle, I leave it up to God.
JOLINA MAGDANGAL: #PrayForItAndYouWillGetIt
Last year, I prayed for Pele to have a sibling. Papa Jesus gave it to us at the time we wanted it and, as a bonus, it was a baby girl. Pele really wanted to have a baby sister. So, whatever we wish for, we should always pray and work hard for it.
JED MADELA: #LoveLife
The year 2018 was all about giving and helping others. It was about making other people happy. I will continue doing it, but for 2019, I will also give time to myself. I gave so much to others that I was left drained and tired.
This coming year will be all about balance. Also, I will be more aware of the people I help, and the people I surround myself with.
ERIK SANTOS: #Blessed
In this fast-changing industry, you’d expect that after 15 years, everything would slow down. But 2018 has proven that life can still offer a lot of surprises. The past year has truly been one of my best years so far, and I’m looking forward to what 2019 has in store for me.
Lesson learned: If you learn to lift everything up to God, the best things will come your way.
BENJIE PARAS: #WorkSaveTravel
Invest in traveling with family, not on material things. It’s a priceless experience.
ROBERT SEÑA: #LevelUp2019
The year 2018 was very good to me and my family. There were disappointments, of course, but that’s life. You just have to deal with it.
So, for me? I just have to be better from last year. Love is the key.
JOHN ARCILLA: #BePositive
Trust, honesty, compassion—all the values and their opposites are double-edged. It’s not fair to expect only good values from all the people and circumstances around you while you are actually doing the opposite.
It’s more progressive to introspect and practice the values that you expect from others.
