Veteran actor Tirso Cruz III recently took to social media to share a poem he wrote for son Teejay, who passed away last November from lymphatic cancer. The poem was written in an Instagram post that showed Cruz embracing his son who was lying down in a hospital bed—their last photo together, taken by wife Lynn Ynchausti.

“This was our last picture taken by your Mama,” Cruz wrote on Dec. 31. “I would like to share this poem that I wrote for my son TJ. And I pray to the Lord that he gives me a beautiful melody that I might turn it into a song someday.”

The poem was titled “Our Last Embrace” and read: “As I walked into the room, the sweetest smile was on his face. And as he waved for me to come, these words were spoken by my son. ‘Papa, come and embrace me, I want to feel your arms around me.'”

“Had I known it would be the last, I should have held on longer, I should have held on so tight. Then came that fateful day, that day we feared would come our way. So many things to do, so many things to say, for my beloved eldest son that day. As tears were rolling down my face, I love you son was all I could say…”

The Cruz family recently celebrated their first Christmas without Teejay, an event the husband and wife marked with much longing. Cruz took to his Instagram on Dec. 24 to remember Teejay, saying his heart was aching over his absence. At the same time, he was happy knowing his son is celebrating Christmas with the Lord Jesus Christ.

“You must be getting ready up there for the greatest and most grandiose celebration of your first Christmas in heaven…,” the veteran actor wrote then. “Please always keep us in your heart for you shall always be in ours. I miss you so much! I love you.”

Teejay, Cruz and Ynchausti’s first born passed away on Nov. 21, 2018. at the age of 37. He is survived by his parents and siblings Bodie and Djanin.  /ra
