What makes it easy for Jak Roberto and gf Barbie Forteza to keep relationship strong

Actor Jak Roberto will work alongside real-life girlfriend Barbie Forteza in the coming Kapuso series, “Kara Mia.” How, exactly, would the dynamic be between the former “Meant to Be” costars, now that the show will likely depend on the believability of their offscreen romance?
“I’m very excited,” Jak, whose character in “Meant to Be” ultimately didn’t end up with Barbie’s, told the Inquirer. “It’s been a while since we did ‘Meant to Be,’ where there were four of us actors who were being paired with her.”
Making viewers believe that they’re together in the new show would feel like witnessing a new tandem altogether, he said: “It took time before she and I were put in a show together again, and that’s in ‘Magpakailanman.’ We felt the clamor of the viewers that we should work together again. The episode rated well. So, this time, I know they’re very excited to see us again.”
Maintaining a romantic bond between them was easy, apart from the fact that they’re both celebrities, Jak said.
“There’s trust and respect. I’ve always believed in those, to make a relationship last,” confided Jak, who also appeared this year in the drama “Contessa” and the fantasy series “Super Ma’am.” “We have many things in common. We don’t go out at night. We both like movies and dining out, with her parents. I’m so happy that we’re in one project, since we’ll see each other more often.”
When asked about his favorite career milestone so far, Jak, who cohosted “Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman” in 2011, responded, “Maybe when I was given the nickname ‘Pambansang Abs.’ It’s a big thing for me. Not everybody is given that ‘title.’ And I’m lucky to have one. And because of this, I have shows now.”
Known for that moniker for over two years now, the 25-year-old actor has gotten used to being shirtless onscreen. But, keeping those abdominal muscles in top form is a steady challenge, he shared: “I always make it a point to visit the gym regularly. Even when there are many tapings, I’d find the time [to work out]. Other than that, I do boxing to maintain my physique.”
Despite the rigorous fitness sessions, he is allowed a break from them, from time to time. What food does he enjoy during his “cheat days”?
“Ramen and Japanese buffet,” Jak unhesitatingly disclosed.
