“It’s the story of a woman—a wife and mother—struggling to keep her family together against all odds,” said ABS-CBN president and COO Charo Santos-Concio of the March 3 episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” top-billed by Sandy Andolong.

Things seem to be running smoothly for letter-sender Josephine, a typical homemaker who goes about her daily chores without incident, and lovingly attends to her family’s needs, when a series of unexpected events shake her. She is faced with difficult decisions.

“It is a celebration of being a modern-day superhero, and a champion, if you may,” said Concio, host of the longest-running drama anthology. It airs Saturdays at 7:45 p.m. on ABS-CBN. “No, we are not talking of super strength and the ability to fly. Rather, about the winner who shows the unwavering strength of spirit.”

Andolong’s real-life husband, Christopher de Leon, plays her empathetic husband Toto. The episode, which also stars Maggie dela Riva, Edgar Allan Guzman, Lauren Young and Jairus Aquino, is copresented by Champion laundry detergent. Marinel R. Cruz

Kiddie master chef

Kyle Imao, 12, of Marikina, was named the country’s first Junior MasterChef after leading the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” finale on ABS-CBN last Saturday. His oyster ravioli and Asian fusion shrimp and scallops had the judges raving.
