Macaulay Culkin, who played the role of Kevin McCallister in the classic comedy film “Home Alone” poked fun on thieves on Christmas eve, saying that he felt bad he has become the reason why robbers do not have the confidence to rob during Christmas.
What happened to the home invaders in “Home Alone” is a glaring reminder for robbers not to take advantage of the holiday season. A perfect example of a robbery-turned-disaster, the film showed how the 8-year-old McCallister outsmarted the older thieves by rigging the house with booby traps.
Now, eighteen years after the movie was released, Culkin, who recently brought his iconic character back to life in a Google commercial, humorously said he felt bad that he is the reason why some burglars opt not to take their chances on Christmas, through a Twitter post last Sunday, Dec. 23.

Fans of the movie immediately took to the comments section of his post, lauding his character’s actions in the movie. YouTube personality Ricky Dillon praised him for single-handedly bringing the crime rate down during the holidays.

One netizen, Laura Farr (@FarrWard3), shared a photo of his son, who was inspired by Culkin, setting up his toy cars “to stop the burglars.”

One YouTube content creator, Pete Langhelt (@PeteLanghelt), tried to see the film from the perspective of the robbers.

Another netizen, Frank Chad Muniz (@FrankMuniz), suggested a sequel to the film: this time, the now-adult McCallister could be the one doing the robbery in a “Robin Hood-esque” scenario.
