Further, the statement said: “We intended to establish their seniority, but we admit that we should have used better terms to say it. We truly regret the mistake, and it’s a learning experience for us.”

In the episode aired Saturday, Empoy Marquez’s character asked a group of girls played by Michelle Vito, Katrina Legaspi and Miles Ocampo if seeing Super Junior was part of their Seoul trip plans.

The girls reacted by laughing and pointing out that BTS, another K-pop boy group, is more popular nowadays.

Many fans expressed dismay and one of them was Happee Sy of Pulp Live World, the concert promoter that brought Super Junior in Manila earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Vito, Legaspi and Ocampo also apologized to Super Junior fans on their own Twitter accounts on Sunday.

Super Junior, one of the groups who helped spread K-pop worldwide, debuted in 2005 under SM Entertainment.

The group last performed in Manila on June 30 for their “Super Show 7 World Tour” at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. /je
