Bush, Evanescence rock the Big Dome

MANILA, Philippines—Bush and Evanescence gave their Filipino fans a double dose of exhilarating rock music on Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The British band Bush, led by singer/songwriter Gavin Rossdale, played spirited versions of select songs from its five albums, including its latest release, 2011’s “Sea of Memories.”

Rossdale was a charismatic presence onstage; at one point he jumped into the crowd, hugging those on his path as he went all around the Big Dome.

The concert’s main act, Evanescence from the United States, unloaded a heady mix of classical and heavy metal music, with lead singer Amy Lee portraying the image of a head-banging

The band opened with “Hello” from its bestselling 2003 debut album, “Fallen.” The Big Dome virtually shook from an avalanche of hard rock, the music culminating with Evanescence hits “Bring Me to Life” and “My Immortal.”
