2018 MAMA draws nearly 56 million Tweets
MANILA, Philippines — The 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards generated nearly 56 million Tweets during the week of its three-day event, Twitter said on Wednesday.
According to Twitter’s data, K-pop fans’ massive response via Twitter broke 2017 MAMA’s record of 42 million Tweets.
#MAMAvote was the most used hashtag by users to vote for their favorite artists, topping the list of Twitter trends in 44 locales.
Meanwhile, 13.3 million tweets were generated during the real-time voting segment for “Worldwide Icon of the Year” award which was won by K-pop group BTS.
As the red carpet events were broadcasted live on Twitter, 10 million related tweets were published with #MAMAredcarpet topping the Twitter trends in 35 locales.
Twitter users also voted for BTS to have the best red carpet looks, giving them the “Best Asian Style Awards.”

2018 MAMA was held on December 10, 12 and 14 in South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong, respectively. It is a major South Korean music awards ceremony presented by entertainment company CJ E&M. /cbb
