Many Filipinos, Montes said, would rather endure their sickness than spend money in health care and medicine because of poverty.

She said: “Dahil marami tayong mga kababayan sa bansa na dala ng ating mahirap na ekonomiya ay nanghihinayang sa pera na gagastusin sa pagpapatingin sa normal checkup kaya kahit may iniinda ay titiisin nalamang dahil may paggagamitan pa sa pera na dapat sa gamot at checkup…”

This is the reason why she salutes all those who volunteer to make free medical checkup possible, adding: “Hindi lang panahon ang kanilang ginugugol kundi ang PUSO at Determinasyon na makatulong sa ating mga kababayan..”

“Hilom” is an an advocacy film for the DOH and a “tribute to doctors who go out their way to help our fellow Filipinos from the barrio.”

The 23-year-old actress also expressed how honored she is to work with Brillante Mendoza, who directed the film, together with Kean Cipriano and Ruby Ruiz.

Montes said the film will be shown in health centers nationwide for “community awareness.” #
