Basil Valdez made sure to point it out. And that’s the Basil Valdez, who has come back to the concert stage in a big way, thank heavens. The third headliner, the ever-dependable The CompanY, continues to surprise us with a dogged determination to raise the bar for the spectators and for themselves as well. Few groups would venture, like this group routinely does, into “experimental” territory, music-wise. Its every performance assures us, as an audience, that committed artists will continue to challenge us, even educate us, if necessary. The CompanY looks up to its fans, more than the other way around, and always illustrates its confidence in their capacity to appreciate diligently prepared numbers.
