As someone who once dreamed of becoming a beauty queen, it was heartening, Sanya Lopez related, to have someone like 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach offering to train her, should she decide to go down the pageant route.

“It was so unexpected and flattering. Hello, that’s a Miss Universe winner! It’s nice to know that someone sees something in me and believes in me,” the Kapuso talent told reporters. “Kinilig ako … I’m a fan of hers, especially of her stare when she works the runway.”

In a video message posted on Instagram, Pia said she’s “ready” and will be “waiting” for Sanya. “If you want to train, and you want to join [a pageant], you now know where to go,” Pia said.

But that doesn’t mean that Sanya’s abandoning that dream. “Joining pageants isn’t easy, especially the more prestigious ones. There’s a lot of work and pressure involved,” Sanya said. “But I’m not closing my doors.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
