How Ezra Miller survived abuse in younger years, Hollywood

Actor Ezra Miller survived various abuses, growing up and as a struggling actor, he divulged in a recent Playboy interview.

“I’ve survived abuse, starting from a very young age,” the openly bisexual actor revealed. “There was a close friend whom I had a sexual relationship with, who really, really turned on me in a violent way. So that [‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’] story was pretty close to home for me.”

Miller referred to the film where he played a gay teen who had a secret relationship with a self-loathing, closeted athlete.

“I’ve been attacked repeatedly in my life—by f**king bigots,” he added. The 26-year-old actor played the superhero Flash in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Justice League.”

Previously in his career, there were other abuses committed against him, the “Fantastic Beasts” actor disclosed: “I’ve been in audition situations where sexuality was totally being leveraged. It’s important to acknowledge the diversity of voices who have experienced this s**t, in all genders. Everyone is a survivor of it.”

Asked how he survived such ordeals, Miller responded, “Art is the only thing that I have. If I didn’t have art, I’d be so f**king dead—so long ago. I probably would have done it myself.” —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
