Jimmy Fallon once again showcased his pipes in the recent episode of his “The Tonight Show”, as he sang a rendition of A Great Big World’s “Say Something”. But his duet partner was not Christina Aguilera, who is originally featured in the song. Fallon instead sang along with Sophia the robot.
The humanoid robot marked her return to the “Tonight Show” stage Wednesday night, as Fallon made a demo of other robots from around the world.
The talk show host first asked the robot how she has been since he last saw her, which she noted to be 575 days ago. Sophia told Fallon some of the things she has experienced — addressing the United Nations and North Atlantic Treaty Organization, meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and being the first robot to be granted a citizenship, among others.
Sophia also stated that she loves to sing using her new artificial intelligence voice, and asked Fallon if they could sing together. Fallon, looking amused at first, granted the request.
After the performance, Fallon was blown away at Sophia’s new talent and urged the audience to give her a round of applause.
Other creations featured in the show were a mini cheetah from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a wearable tomato-feeding robot, and Sophia’s new little sister, aptly named little Sophia. JB
